When Cherokee Councilwoman Julia Coates commissioned a bandolier bag from me, I was honored. This bag is bold in color, just as she is bold in her opinions and political positions.

The two main motifs for this bag are the hummingbirds and the water spider. I used these motifs to celebrate and remember two very significant events in Julia’s life. They represent her love for her mom, and her indomitable spirit and tenacity.
